About the project:

We are three juniors in the graphic design program working on making student-made and student-approved VCU apparel. In the Fall 2024 semester, we joined together in class and noticed that VCU students don’t frequently wear VCU merch as much as students from other schools. We want students to feel like they have apparel that they are excited to wear and that speaks to their style. We teamed up with VBC to bring this idea to life. We created many designs and polled students on what they liked best, ultimately narrowing it down to three shirt designs. The VCU Map Tee is the first shirt in the “By Students, For Students” collection and we can’t wait for the other two shirts to hit the stores in the Spring!

Meet the designers!

Brianna Brown

Hi, I’m Brianna, a junior in Graphic Design with a minor in Media Studies. My work is inspired by playful, nostalgic design that embraces color. I believe VCUarts deserves fun merch that stands out, and we hope that the release of this raglan tee opens the door for more unique VCUarts clothing options. In my free time, I enjoy scrapbooking, exploring new arts n’ crafts, thrifting, and gaming. A fun fact about me is that I love making matcha drinks at home!

Leah Mozeleski

Hey! My name is Leah and I’m a junior majoring in Graphic Design and minoring in Marketing Insights. I pitched this project concept at the beginning of the semester in our Human-Centered Design class because I noticed that VCU students love to show their style through their clothes. I saw an opportunity to make designs that students vote on and bring those designs to stores. I love bold graphics and tend to use a minimal color palette with a focus on type and words. Outside of school, I love to stay active with swimming and lifting at the gym, reading, and playing video games.

Imanney Jones

Hi, I’m Imanney Jones, a junior majoring in Graphic Design and minoring in Marketing Insights. I designed the VCU Map Tee, which was inspired by a desire to add some stylistic variety to VCU apparel. I wanted to create something recognizable that VCU students and I would be proud to wear on a regular basis. After collecting feedback from students, this design was the most well-received. I would describe my design style as cultural, bold, and eye-catching.  In my free time I enjoy traditional art, fashion, and exploring different foods.
